Given the large population of individuals who gamble at New Mexico casinos, the NM lottery, online, and who bet on sports, it is not surprising that a significant percentage of this population develops problems with gambling. Problem gambling is often described as the “hidden addiction” because it is so easy to hide in the earlier stages and often goes undetected in relationships, families, in the therapy room, at primary care doctor visits, and at the emergency room.
For this reason, specialized training for therapists in the treatment of problem gambling is essential so that they may be in the know about how to screen, assess, manage potential lethality, and treat gambling disorder when it presents in the therapy room.

This training seminar is a comprehensive foundational training for therapists, to learn how to effectively treat the complex issues that persons with a gambling disorder present.
