Research demonstrates that
even after an individual stops using substances or dependent
behaviors like gambling
addiction or compulsive shopping, withdrawal symptoms still persist
- even after detoxification. In fact this occurs every 90 days
(called Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) in the first two years
of most people's recovery.
Research has also shown that
auricular acupuncture is extremely effective at combating the
obsession and craving associated with withdrawal and post-acute
withdrawal.
Auricular acupuncture is offered
to all participants when first entering the program. Clients
participate up to five days per week. Acupuncture is performed
in accordance with accepted standards, and relaxation skills
are taught throughout the sessions.
